Youth Workers discussing their youth work in the North of Ireland
As the WELB Youth Service is about to lose a whole tier of officers...
I am wondering how the Education cuts are impacting, Other Youth Services across Northern Ireland?
As from 1st April 2011, The WELB Youth Service will operate with NO Youth Oficers... They were all accepted for the early retirement redundancy packages!!!
As of today... One week untill all 5 Officers & 1 Senior Youth Officer leaves the service there is not one person currently in the Youth Service who know's what will happen after 31st March, Not who will line manage who or anything!!!
I think it is fair to say that this time next week the Youth Service will be in disarray!! :(
Have any other Youth Services suffered the same??
Are we all in the same boat right now??

Thanks for posting this. While I know individuals had applied and were waiting to hear, I genuinely think that the speed and scale of the change has taken people by surprise in the West I would be concerned, I think like yourself that workers are going to be working without the support and supervision they are entitled as professionals to expect. I have heard of potential developments in other boards, but no offical announcements and not on this scale. Like yourself it would be interesting to know what is going on elsewhere and how workers are managing the transitions.

the servise has been systematically dismantled by the board, using secondments and lack of management. Im interested to know the pay off’s, that have been made to create these redundancies.its intresting that you focus on the board as the "youth service",do you not think the voultery/communtry sector provides a bigger service.
